Literacy
We will be working on many comprehension skills this year: using context clues, making inferences, finding the main idea/supporting details, summarizing, cause & effect, and much more! To practice these skills, we will be using Making Meaning, trade books, and a variety of non-fiction texts.
**We will be reading Frindle & Rules this year!**

Writing
We will be using 6 traits this year to work on our writing skills: ideas, organization, voice, sentence fluency, word choice, and conventions. To practice these skills, we will work on different writing pieces: narratives, persuasive, informative/explanatory, and more! Also, we will learn to cite explicit evidence in our writing. We will pull evidence from various sources.
Grammar
We will be using our POP (Patterns of Power) program to incorporate grammar skills into our daily writing instruction.
